“Three relieved asthma children in the same family is not evidence that an alternative treatment is working”
Susanne Jakobsen is working in a medical company, and as such she still likes to keep pills, sprays and other medicines away from her children. But that has been impossible since all three of them are suffering from asthma.
After having tried several other treatments, both homeopathic and physiotherapy, SensiStop turned out to be this family’s solution.
She started treating all three children at the same time and after a month they were all symptoms free and did not need to take their medications. To be sure she continued the treatment the recommended 4 months and since the children have had no problems. The two boys measure their lung capacity once a week to be sure, in a peakflow meter, but all is fine.
When they returned to the hospital for a check up the doctor concluded that both boys had stopped taking the medication and no longer had any asthma symptoms.
Today the doctor says that the two boys did not have a 100 percent certain asthma diagnosis from the beginning, taking in consideration their lung capacity measurements, but they were given the medications because of their symptoms.
“This is not unusual, this is the way it works for many patients and it does not make me believe they have not had asthma. With some we choose to give preventive symptom treatment, to avoid them getting an attack and having to be admitted in hospital” says the doctor.
He underlines, that as a doctor he has a regular experience with children having mild asthma can grow out of it, or that the symptoms are milder in spring.
“Asthma comes and goes, especially for the group of people who have never been admitted to hospital. This is probably what has happened in this case. Or the mother has had such a strong belief in the treatment that this has transmitted to the children. This is the so called placebo effect we see a lot of, where a strong belief can make a calcium pill work.”
The father of the three children is questioning the doctor’s words.
“ With our three children in three different ages and different types of allergies, getting well in the same three month period, can not only come down to faith”.
According to the doctor, Jesper Steensberg, one should not put to much faith in individual stories like these, they prove nothing.
“Off course I believe in the things I take and are working for me. But as doctors we are used to the placebo effect, and that things have to be documented in clinically controlled experiments with a larger group of people”.
“This does not mean that this is not a good treatment. The three children are just not any proof”.
The children were suffering from the following:
Rikke, 8 years.
From the age of three her skin started chapping. Major parts of her body were red and she was loosing skin on her fingers. A test concluded she had asthma eczema.
She used to get stomach pains when eating, and had to have oil when bathing and not take baths to often. She was given hormone crèmes on a daily basis. Adter taking SensiStop her problems are gone.
Jeppe, 12 years.
Got asthma when he was eight years old. He has been given the traditional asthma medicine since then, but has still been coughing during the nights. That started already when he was six months old. After the SensiStop treatment he no longer needs to take the medicine and is totally symptom free.
Lasse, 14 years.
Got asthma when he was nine and was also allergic to birch pollen. His symptoms were sneezing and red, runny eyes from when he was around 6 months old. HE has also been given asthma medicine for the last five years, until being treated with SensiStop. He no longer takes the medicine and he is totally symptomfree.
